5 Romantic weekend trips that will make you feel like a millionaire

Have your weekends with your bae devolve into Netflix binges and housework? Has it been more than a month since your last date night? Do you feel like you need to make up for lost romantic time? If so, you might want to block off an upcoming weekend for a romantic trip. Weekend getaways are the perfect way to inject some emergency romance into your relationship. And I think they’re so fun. I love having something to look forward to and they stress me out less than a normal vacation. (Yes, I get stressed out by vacations. I’m a true workaholic!) You only need to take a day, or sometimes even a half day, off of work to make a weekend trip. So, it’s relaxation without much career cost, which is great for me. And while I’ve done my fair share of budget weekend trips—once I seriously went two exits south on the highway and spent the weekend in a Holiday Inn with a pool when a boyfriend and I were really low on cash—millionaires know how to do a weekend trip! So, here are some amazing places that millionaires spend their weekends and you can too if you want to live like they do for 72 hours.

Montecito, California

Located in Santa Barbara County, Montecito is a more elite, sophisticated and less commercial version of Santa Barbara. There are fantastic restaurants in Montecito and lots of cute places to shop, but the real reason to go there is the peace and nature. It’s located right on the coast and there are beautiful views of the ocean. And there are a variety of hikes for all skill and fitness levels. The place is also a legit celeb magnet. Keep your eyes open for Oprah when you’re there. She has a home in the area!

Telluride, Colorado

First things first… Telluride isn’t easy to get to. But, that’s part of what makes it so exclusive. This little Colorado town is obviously great if you’re a skiing couple, but even if you’re not, there’s so much to do there. Depending on the weather, there’s ample hiking and rafting. But, there’s also great food, historic buildings and culture there. The Telluride Film Festival is a big draw. Even if you miss that, you’ll have lots of opportunities to learn about the mining history of the town. It’s actually really interesting! I swear!

New York City, New York

So, this one is definitely a matter of taste. New York might not seem like a relaxing getaway to some people, but I can tell you that if you do it right, a weekend in New York can be completely rejuvenating. You’ll leave totally charged to take on the rest of your life and super snuggly with your man. To do New York like a millionaire, it takes some planning. Book a nice hotel (Pro tip: Stay away from Times Square!), reserve primo tables at great restaurants, get tickets to Hamilton and then make late night plans to take advantage of the best comedy scene on the planet at one of New York’s many comedy clubs. There’s so much to do and see and eat in New York. One of my favorite places on the planet!

Montana Ranch

I know you probably didn’t expect to see Montana on this list, but if you pay attention to the tabloids, and I can’t help myself with those rags, you’ll notice that a lot of celebrities are getting married or vacationing in Montana these days. And that’s because there are several super luxurious, but also quaint and rustic, ranches in Montana that cater to the uber wealthy. The food at these places is spectacular and there are so many activities to do that it seems like adult summer camp. A place like this is definitely on my must-visit list.

Maui, Hawaii

And I couldn’t give you a list of weekend getaways without at least one warm destination. There are so many amazing things to check out in Hawaii, but if I had to narrow it down to one, I’d pick Maui. The hotel options there are incredible and you can spend all of your energy having fun on the beach and prancing around town or you can stick to your hotel and relax with drinks and spa services. It truly feels like paradise when you’re there.

There’s some weekend travel porn for you to drool over. Even if the weekend getaway turns into one night in a hotel a few towns over, it’ll do wonders for your relationship. There’s something very special about taking the time to get away and be together.
