Is music a must during sex? Surprising facts!

Ketchup and French fries. Nutella and a spoon. Peas and carrots. Some things just go together. And music and sex are definitely two of those things. I’ve always thought there was something special about music that made it sexier than any other aphrodisiac out there. It’s better than soft candlelight. Better than a man’s cologne. Hell, sometimes I even think the right song can turn me on more than a shirtless guy himself.

Well, it turns out that I’m right. (Ah, I love it when that happens!) Music is a crucial part of sex, per a recent study done by Spotify. And this research brought up some very interesting facts. For example, did you know that over 40 percent of people consider music to be more arousing than actual touch? Would you have guessed that Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is the number one song rated above sex? Did you know that the part of your brain that responds to pleasurable sensations like food and sex is the exact same part of your brain that processes music?

Well, now you know. So I guess this boils down to my opening question. Is music a must during sex? Well, no. Of course, you can have sex without music on. But why would you when it’s so much better with the right tunes on? So in the spirit of grooving with and to the right beats, I decided to share my top three sexin’ songs with you all.

“(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes

If you’ve seen the movie Dirty Dancing, you know exactly what I’m talking about here. It’s impossible to hear those first notes and not get sexy chills running up and down your spine. This song will totally get you in the mood for your own bad boy gone good.

“Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye

This may be the hands-down sexiest song of all time. Marvin Gaye’s voice can melt butter, and when he’s singing directly about sex, well, that voice just about melts me. Put this on when your hunny walks into the bedroom, and you’re guaranteed some frisky fun.

“Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers

This is another song that’s sexy on its own, but way, way sexier if you know the movie where it really got its sex appeal. There’s a scene in Ghost where Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore get it on to this song, and it’s so hot and steamy that you almost forget that Demi’s really making love to Whoopi Goldberg. That’s how sexy it is!

What are your favorite setting-the-mood songs? Would love to get a really sexy playlist going in the comments. So please leave your faves below.
