Learn from them: Not-so-conventional love stories

Loves stories are like snowflakes and chili recipes. No two are exactly the same. Sure, there are some classic love stories, like high school sweethearts or making eye contact in the streets of Paris. But even each of those tales is unique in its own way. Here are some very unconventional love stories that will hopefully inspire you to be open to love, even in unlikely situations.

Gamer Love

If this doesn’t melt your heart, then you need to go to the doctor and get checked for chronic ice heart. Look at the joy and love there. Would you guess that these two met online gaming? Five years ago? And had never met before that moment? Literally, we just witnessed their first kiss. Oh, my heart’s melting all over again. What you should take from this improbable couple is that technology seriously rocks when it comes to finding romance, and barriers in your relationship are only as strong as you let them be. If these two can make years of online-only communication work, your relationship can handle a few late nights at the office, a few canceled dates and even that temporary relocation to Tulsa.

Subway missed connection

Patrick saw a Camille across the subway, but couldn’t get up the nerve to talk to her. So he created a website and crowdsourced his community to find her. Within days he found his lady, and the two actually connected. Check out this giggly interview after their first meeting, and you’ll see that they hit it off. From this, I say there’s never such a thing as a missed connection in love, just a delayed one.

A Cinderella story

Even though Cinderella is a classic love story, it’s actually very non-conventional. Boy meets girl. Girl runs away. Girl loses shoe. Boy goes on mad shoe hunt around the kingdom. Girl and boy live happily ever after. It’s weird, right? But good weird. From this tale, and actually any Disney flick, I think we should learn to always believe in the power of our dreams. Your Prince Charming is out there if you’re dreaming of him. Just keep wishing and keep looking.

Housekeeper hookup

Do you guys know Blair Fowler? She’s an amazing makeup vlogger on YouTube. Even though she’s more than a couple decades younger than I am, she teaches me new makeup tricks every time I watch her videos. She’s also taught me some love lessons. She broke up with her boyfriend recently, but their how-we-met story is inspiring. They were both clients of the same cleaning service, and their housekeeper set them up. The lesson here is to let everyone in your life know that you’re single and looking. You never know who could be your matchmaker.

Even though each of these stories is unique, I think the true moral of all of them is you never know when love could be waiting for you. Keep your eyes and hearts open.
