Valentine’s gifts you should splurge on for your husband

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s time to celebrate love. If you’re in a marriage or long-term relationship, it can be easy to feel like you can skip all of the V-Day madness. You could just write it off as something people in new relationships do because they’re so, well, new. But I say why not take a day to celebrate your significant other whether you’ve been together for four weeks or 40 years? It’s such an opportunity to say I love you. You shouldn’t pass it up. And for your husband, why cut corners? Go ahead and splurge this year. Here are some ideas.

A trip

Wouldn’t a trip, just the two of you, be so fantastic? Maybe it’s a few days on a beach. Or a weekend away at a ski lodge. It could even be driving down the highway a few exits and staying at a hotel that has a pool. It doesn’t matter what would float his boat, it matters that you do all of the planning and purchasing. Surprise him with it on Valentine’s Day, and he’ll be thrilled!

Lingerie

Any relationship, new or old, could use more lingerie. And you can trust me, every man thinks that. No matter how many times he’s seen you naked or watched you get ready for bed in that ratty, old Super Bowl 1988 shirt, he’s going to be excited to see you in something black, red and lacy. So head on over to the mall and pick up something really saucy. It’ll probably do you some good too to feel like the ultra-sexy goddess you are.

A night out for him

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your dude is to send him away. Get him a round of golf at the nearest course, a coupon for a free night out with the guys or tickets to a game for his best friend and him. It might not sound romantic, but recognizing what makes your man happy and giving it to him truly is romance.

Spa treatment

Here’s something your husband would probably never do for himself but is guaranteed to love. Go to the local spa and get a his and hers package. Couples massages are so relaxing, and lazing around the hot tub together afterwards can be super sexy. Be sure you pick a place that has packages that cater to men. You don’t want him to feel uncomfortable or out of place. Any large spa should have something available that will make him feel like a king of luxury. And you can give him a little preview by offering up a massage of your own. Who knows where that will lead? (Spoiler alert: Probably to the bedroom.)
