hair down thereEvery summer, the magazines ask experts from just about every field to comment on what you need for ultimate summer survival. Everything from sunscreen, work sandals, to the proper ponytail comes with step-by-step instructions.

Why not a special guide for love and sex this summer with some of the hottest tips about not-so-easy topics?

Welcome to Sex and the Summer: A 4-Part Series.

I’m going to be addressing some of the most popular topics that men and women have come through my office wondering about.

First up?

Let’s talk about grooming.

Here are the top 3 things you need to know right now…

1. How much hair down there? “Do people still have pubic hair? I had to ask my gyno – it’s been so long since I had to worry about this…” I overheard a woman in her 40s ask her friends. A few days later, I heard a guy in his 20s say, “Girls have pubic hair?” With so many opinions – thanks to things like porn for many men (and women) – and the ever-changing “down there” trends, it’s hard to know what’s right for you, so let’s make it simple.

Start with a small patch of hair or a landing strip. You can’t go wrong. We’re talking wax or shave (or whatever works for you) the sides – no hair hanging out of your bikini this summer. Make sense? Keep it neat and trim. From there, if you’re with a guy, don’t be ask him what he likes. Then you should be able to come up with a “style” that works for both of you.

2. How about armpits? Real talk here – you need to shave under your arms, ladies. You may think it’s rock n’ roll chic or it’s just “your thing” but it’s not. And it’s not going to up your dating game this summer. I promise you. Get rid of it. Plain and simple.

3. Random hairs? A lot of women ask me about this. When in doubt: get rid of it. That goes for hair on your boobs, stomach, chest, butt – you name it. And with so many products on the market – from waxing, sugaring, shaving, tweezing, even more permanent forms of hair removal, there’s bound to be something that works for you.

Now I can hear some ladies saying, “Ok, I get it but what about the men?” Don’t you worry. Next time, I’m diving right into what guys need to be grooming (here, there, and everywhere) for the summer.
