3 Amazingly original cold weather date ideas

Cold day date ideasHey East Coast… and basically anywhere that’s not Southern California, I feel you! It’s cold! I get the chills just watching the weather reports. And cold weather doesn’t always lend itself to romance and fun date ideas. It’s hard to feel romantic and sexy when you can’t feel your fingers and your nose is running. I get it! But, that doesn’t mean that you have to wait for the spring thaw to get romantic and creative with dates. Romance doesn’t need to hibernate! You can still have really wonderful dates when the weather is less than perfect. Here are some ideas.

Hot chocolate cook off – Date Ideas

The old saying goes that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. I agree with that, but I think the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach, man or woman. And when it’s chilly out, hot chocolate is the perfect stomach and heart pleaser. Even if you’re not a regular cook, you can make fancy hot chocolate. All you need is a few pots and a few ingredients. Set up a hot chocolate competition for your boo and you. You each whip up a version of the sweet drink you think will wow the other person and then once everything is ready, have a taste test. Whoever wins gets to choose the movie for the night. Fun, right?

Empty park – Date Ideas

Of course when it’s cold out, people avoid going outside much. Take advantage of that and have a special private moment in nature with your favorite fellow. Bundle up and head out to a park or nature reserve. Chances are, it will be totally empty. You and your man can have a really special time alone in a beautiful place. Bring a fun hot drink, like a hot toddy, and make it really memorable!

Vacation dreaming – Date Ideas

Sometimes you just need to get away from the cold weather, but you can’t afford it or schedules don’t work out. So, I say make a vacation yourself! Decide that you two are in the tropics for an evening. Crank up the heat in your place, put on a bikini, make fruity drinks and listen to steel drum music. You could even watch movies set on tropical islands or cook a special Mexican dish to get a south of the border feel to your faux-cation. A little make-believe can go a long way in the romance department. If you guys have gone on a special trip together in the past, I say recreate a full night from that vacation. Wear the same clothes, cook the same food and have the same fun in the bedroom!

Hope that helps you non-Southern Californians have a fabulous time during the winter. Stay warm, creative and romantic!
