The Men's Room - Love and Relationship Advice From a Man For Women

Age is Just a Number

age is just a numberHow old are you?

Great, you just answered in your head how old you are because I certainly did not hear it. There’s no way I could’ve heard because I’m just a bunch of words on a paper.

But really, I want you to think about how old you are right now in this present moment.

You are whatever age you are from the date you’re born until today.

Pretty simple concept, right?

But a lot of people don’t like that simple concept.

Every day I get emails from people that tell me they’re a certain age. A woman will send me an email and say, “David, I’m 51, but I look 41.”

“David, I’m 60, but I look 39.”

But, What Does That Mean?

It really doesn’t matter what age you think you look like because it’s all just made up anyway.

What does a 39-year-old look like?

What does 40-year-old look like?

What is a 60-year-old supposed to look like?

If you’re 50-years-old, you can’t say you look like a 40-year-old because the truth is you look like a great 50-year-old.

If you’re 40, you can’t say you’re 40 and look like a 25-year-old. You’re actually 40 and look like a great 40-year-old.

I think we need to change things because we’re constantly thinking about youth and how youth is the only thing that’s good. We’re always making ourselves younger in so many different ways. Nobody wants to look their age; especially now that we’re all online for everyone to see.

There seems to be a plethora of women that are 49 on online dating sites, but not ones that are 50 or 51.

Why Are We So Obsessed About Our Looks?

There’s a recent study that says the top age of women on online dating sites is 29, 39 and 49. The reason being is that everybody likes to round down to be younger.

We live in a culture that is obsessed with youth. So we feel the need to constantly make ourselves younger.

When we date online.

When we talk about the way we look.

When we talk about the way we feel.

But in reality, we are the exact age that we are. And we need to start rocking that age.

Rock Your Age

It’s beautiful to be 50-years-old and look fantastic for your age. It’s great to be 60 and look incredible for your age. It’s great to be 30 in fantastic shape.

So start reframing what you’re saying. Start talking about how great you look for the age that you are. You could tell people that you’re 50, but you’ve never felt better in your entire life. Let them be the judge of what age they think you look. See if once again age is just a number, a number that we have been given to and assigned since we were born.

It’s time you started just being the most fabulous version of yourself at whatever age you are.

Leave the crazy emotions and confusion to the youth. Let yourself enjoy the beautiful wisdom of being whatever age you are, looking however young you might look.

Remember, you might look younger, but you’ve still got the beautiful mind of that older, more mature person. So just be the most fabulous version of you at the age you are right now, and by doing that, you’re going to embrace life so much more.

We can never have our youth back. All we have is being amazing the way we are today, in the present.
