5 Things you should never wear on a first date

man-and-woman-on-date

The first date outfit stress meltdown! We’ve all been there. Many, many times. Here’s the truth, though. No dude cares about what you’re wearing as much as you do. Really, what you wear barely matters as long as you feel sexy, confident and comfortable. Of course, a dress that shows a little skin doesn’t hurt the situation. There are some things you need to avoid in a first date outfit, though. Here they are.

New Shoes

No matter how cute or hot your new pair of shoes is, don’t wear them on a first date. For 99% of shoes, the first time you wear them, they hurt. My friggin Chucks hurt me on the first wear! You don’t want to be the girl who can’t even walk to the bathroom without limping because her feet hurt so much. So, break your shoes in before the first date.

Something Uncomfortable

This goes for any item of clothing. From your thong to your hair clip, don’t wear anything that hurts or shows more skin than you’re comfortable with. A first date isn’t the time to test out anything brand new. Wear tried and true pieces and give everything a test run before a date to make sure you’ll feel totally comfortable. First dates are awkward enough! Don’t add to the stress by wearing something that gives you a wedgie the whole time!

Lace Up Pants

Every single woman has bought a pair of lace up pants at some point in her life. I don’t know why, but it happens. You’re just in a thrift store, try them on and they look amazing in that magic mirror. But, when you get them home, they’re less amazing. Still, you think they’re sexy, so you’re tempted to wear them on a first date. Let me just tell you, DON’T! They’re a pain in the bathroom and make everything take longer than it should. If you’re going pants, stick to plain old button or zip fly, k?

A Lie

We all have t-shirts that say cool things on them. I have Pink Floyd concert shirt. But, guess what? I’ve never been to a Pink Floyd concert! I like the band well enough, but I’m not a super fan. Still, my Pink Floyd shirt fits me perfectly and shows off everything in all the right places. I wouldn’t wear that on a first date, though, because it sends the message that I love Pink Floyd and want to talk about the band. But, I really don’t! If my date were to bring the band up, I’d look like a big, fat poser. So, just avoid any weird backtracking conversations by only wearing shirts that truly do reflect you.

Profile Outfit

If you’re meeting a guy from the internet, don’t wear the exact same outfit you have on in your profile picture. He already knows what you look like in that. Spice it up and wear something different so you don’t seem like a cartoon character who wears the same thing every, single day.

Good luck on your first dates, ladies. Tweet me your first date outfits, pretty please!
