How to deal when your ex’s wedding pictures hit Facebook

lauren conrad wedding

I don’t know about you all, but I was absolutely dying to see Lauren Conrad’s wedding pictures. She has so much style. I just knew her special day was going to be an amazing spectacle and so inspiring. And she didn’t disappoint at all. What I loved the most about the pictures I saw was that she looked like herself. So many brides spend their wedding day dolled up in an uncomfortable dress and makeup that’s so different from what they normally wear that they’re just not themselves at their weddings. Not Lauren Conrad! She rocked her signature beachy waves and winged liner. She simply amped up her normal look with some glitz and glam, instead of totally departing from her daily style. Loved every single thing about it.

Because Lauren was on The Hills, I feel like I know a ton about her life, especially the drama she’s been a part of. And I know the “reality” of The Hills has been called into question by fans and cast members alike, but I have to believe that the plot of the show was at least based on reality. And I couldn’t help but think of Lauren’s exes, like Brody Jenner, checking out Lauren’s wedding pics and I wondered how they were dealing. With social media, it’s not just celebs who have to look at their exes’ wedding pics in tabloids. We’re all seeing our exes’ wedding pics on Facebook. So, I thought it would be helpful to give you all some tips on how to deal when your ex’s wedding pics pop up on your Facebook feed.

Be Careful What You Say And Share

My first tip is to watch what your fingers do on Facebook. I know that as soon as you see that first wedding pic show up, your knee-jerk reaction will be to send the picture to a friend of yours and say something snarky. I get it. A little snark can be really cleansing. Just, be super careful. It’s so easy to think you’re sending a private message to a friend and when you’re actually posting on someone’s wall, especially when you’re using Facebook on your phone. I have a girlfriend who in the early days of having an iPhone was trying to send her ex’s bride’s pictures to a friend and accidentally tagged herself in the pictures. Can you imagine? So, double-check everything before you hit “post” or “send.”

It’s Not You For A Good Reason

If you’re getting the “why not me blues” about your ex moving on and committing to someone else, know that it’s not you walking down the aisle with him for a very, very good reason. It’s not you because it’s not supposed to be! You’re going to end up with someone who’s a way better fit and will make you much happier in the long run. It’s tough to believe that when you’re in an emotional place. Trust me, I know. But, it always winds up being true. Things work out for the best in the end. And if you’re not in the best place now, it’s because it’s not the end of your romantic journey yet. Just keep hanging in there and you’ll see. I promise.

Focus On What Makes You Happy

Instead of spending hours of your life pouring over those stupid pictures, talking to your friends about the bride’s terrible taste, and wondering if your ex is actually happy now, close out of Facebook. Just back away from your computer and phone and do something that truly makes you happy. Go on a hike. Catch a movie. Call your mom. Do anything that will put a smile on your face and give you a break from thinking about that wedding. Anytime your mind wanders back to that wedding or your fingers are itching to see if any more pics have been uploaded, ignore those impulses and instead think about, or actually do, something that makes you happy. After a few days, you’ll completely forget those pictures or that wedding even existed.

Anyone else have tips on dealing with ex’s wedding pics? It’s definitely not an easy situation, but you can make it through. I have faith!
